Restylane Silk is the newest addition to the well-known Restylane family of dermal fillers by Galderma. Approved by the FDA in 2005 for treating moderate to severe wrinkles on the face, Restylane was created to treat various fine lines and wrinkles around the mouth and nose in addition to lip enhancement to create fuller lips.
Restylane and Restylane Silk are both made from hyaluronic acid, a substance naturally found in the body that holds moisture in the skin, adding youthful volume. Restylane Silk is a transparent liquid gel that can be injected directly into the lips to increase fullness or to smooth out the small wrinkles that form around your mouth, causing the lips to thin with age. It is less viscous that Restylane; therefore, it flows more easily and requires less pressure to inject. Since it has 0.3 percent lidocaine, the discomfort is minimal, with the treatment lasting about 30-60 minutes. By the end of the treatment, wrinkles will be reduced by about 80 percent, your lips will appear fuller, and your results will last about 3-6 months.

Restylane Lyft is a cosmetic dermal filler made from non-animal stabilized hyaluronic acid (NASHA) gel, which can non-surgically restore youthfulness and volume to the face. Restylane® filler provides results that are noticeable immediately after injection, although it may take a few days for swelling to subside. Day-to-day activities can be resumed immediately afterward, with no downtime necessary. To maintain its effects, additional Restylane® injections should be administered about 4 to 8 months later.
There are minimal complications associated with Restylane® treatment. The compound itself is derived from bacterial origins, so most allergies should not be an issue (unless specific to bacterial proteins). Side effects may include slight redness, minor swelling, and mild discomfort, which usually subside within three days, as the body adjusts to the new hyaluronic acid. Patients should refrain from rubbing or massaging the treated area for approximately 48 hours.
