GET THE SKINNY ON THE SHOT
KEEP MEDICATIONS REFRIGERATED
THE INJECTION SITE MUST BE AN AREA THAT HAS A SUBCUTANEOUS LAYER (PINCHABLE) OF FAT BETWEEN THE SKIN AND THE MUSCLE.
MOST POPULAR INJECTION SITE WITH SUBCUTANEOUS FAT:
- ABDOMEN, AVOIDING THE NAVEL AREA (BELLY BUTTON)
- OUTER SURFACE OF THE UPPER ARM
- TOP OF THE THIGHS
Skinny Shot Injection Instructions
- Cleanse the injection area (and around it) with a fresh alcohol pad.
- Wait for the site to dry.
- Remove the needle cap.
- Pinch a 2-inch fold of skin between your thumb and index finger.
- Hold the syringe in the same manner you would hold a pen or a pencil. Insert the needle into the skin at a 45-90 degree angle to the pinched-up skin. The needle should be entirely covered by the skin. The faster you can insert the needle, the less discomfort that will be felt at the injection site.
- Carefully and slowly, press the plunger of the syringe all the way down to inject the medication.
- Once done, you can remove the needle from the skin. You may want to hold an alcohol pad on the injection site for the pinpoint bleeding. Do not rub it!
- If there is bleeding, apply a small bandage to the area.
- Put the syringe and needle into the disposal container.
Monthly Dosage
Your provider will work with you to create your customized plan to help during your weight loss journey. Monthly dosages will be determined by your provider at each follow up appointment. Typically we see patients undergo treatment for at least 5-6 months, while they implement lifestyle changes, and to prevent the most rebound weight gain.
