How many Avéli treatments will I need?
Avéli is designed to be a one-time in-office treatment to address the dimples in your buttocks and thighs to smooth the appearance of cellulite.
When will I see results?
You will start to see results after your treatment but can expect some bruising and/or swelling after. Once the swelling subsides, you will see smoother skin in the treated area.
What is AVELI?
AVELI is a type of cellulite treatment that is supposed to cut the bands of connective tissue below the skin. These bands are called “septa” and are responsible for pulling down the skin while simultaneously pushing the skin cells up. As a result, this causes dimpling and depressions in the thighs and buttocks area.
How is AVELI Performed?
AVELI is a minimally invasive procedure that is performed using a hook with a retractable blade and a light. This light is used to help the plastic surgeon verify the location of each septa band before promptly removing it. When the septa is severed, it releases the tension on the skin, which effectively smoothes out the dimples.
Am I a Good Candidate For AVELI?
As with other cosmetic procedures, you need to be considered a suitable candidate first. Ideal candidates for AVELI treatment are people who are in good health and have cellulite dimples on their thighs and buttocks area. People who are looking to reduce cellulite within a single visit and want smoother, tighter skin are also good candidates for this procedure.
However, there are factors that can disqualify candidates from being able to receive AVELI treatment.
These factors include the following:
- Your cellulite is the result of skin laxity.
- Your BMI is 25 or higher.
- You have recently received liposuction in the target area.
- You have unrealistic expectations regarding the procedure.
It is important to note that AVELI is only designed to target dimples. It does not involve removing excess fat or treating skin laxity.
What Are The Risks of AVELI?
AVELI does come with a few risks patients need to be aware of before undergoing this procedure. It is common to experience mild pain, swelling, and bruising for a few days after treatment. However, if they persist or worsen, contact Dr. Walden immediately.
Other side effects may include:
- Fat necrosis
- Hematoma
- Seroma
- Hyperpigmentation
- Hypopigmentation
- Scarring
- Skin irritation
- Skin lacerations
- Numbness
- Tingling
- Allergic reactions to the anesthesia

Is AVELI Expensive?
Yes, AVELI can be expensive as it can cost over $3,750 to $6,500. However, the final price is determined by your provider’s rates, geographical location, and the provider’s experience.
Is AVELI Covered by Insurance?
No, AVELI is not typically covered by insurance as it is a cosmetic procedure.
Can Dimples Reappear After Treatment?
Although AVELI is designed to treat dimples, it does not halt the natural aging process. As time goes on, it is possible for new dimples to form in adjacent regions of the target area. Lifestyle factors, such as eating an unhealthy diet and lack of exercise, can contribute to cellulite.
