What is a Facelift?

The facelift procedure, is a popular cosmetic procedure designed to re-energize, reinvigorate and rejuvenate the face and treat signs of aging such as wrinkles and fine lines. It is a non-surgical procedure that involves the injection of Platelet Rich Fibrin Matrix (PRFM), which is a gel-like substance found in blood, in strategic locations on the face and neck. The PRFM used is obtained from the own blood of the person undergoing the procedure.

- What exactly is it: A facelift is a cosmetic procedure that involves – a) extracting PRFM from the blood in the arms of the patient, and b) using it as a dermal filler, to improve the tone, texture, shape and aesthetics of the face. A dermal filler is an umbrella term for substances that can be injected under the dermis (skin) of the face, to fill out fine lines, wrinkles, uneven tone and other signs of aging.
- What are the benefits: Apart from smoothing out lines and wrinkles, facelift procedures also boost the shape and flexibility of individuals cells of the dermis, thereby tightening muscles and making up for the loss of collagen. In addition, it corrects the dull appearance of face by increasing the amount of blood platelets available under the facial skin. Overall, the facelift does just what it says – lifts the face (facial skin) away from bones, thereby restoring youthful volume and shape.
- What does a typical facelift procedure entail: Facelift procedures typically involve three steps – 1) using Hyaluronic Acid fillers to create enhanced, aesthetically younger shape of the face, 2) extracting platelets from your blood sample with the help of a centrifuge, and 3) injecting the platelet-rich matrix into the face using correct technique. The platelets keep improving the tone, texture, shape and overall look of your face for two to three months and maintain beautiful, youthful experience for up to two years.
