It’s no secret that we live in a rather youth-obsessed society. If you’re noticing signs of aging that include tissue laxity and volume loss, you may be feeling a sense of panic setting in. The signs of aging are nothing to worry about in this day and age of nonsurgical advancements. In our Austin office, more and more patients are considering the value of treatments like FaceTite and NeckTite as an alternative to facial surgery. This high-tech solution to loose skin and excess fat works naturally by addressing the underlying cause of cosmetic aging, the decline of collagen and elastin in the body. This decline is a natural part of getting older. In fact, it starts well before middle age. The result, though, is the onset of lines, creases, jowls, and loose skin. What is exciting about FaceTite is that it can achieve impressive results in just one sitting.
What is FaceTite?
The FaceTite and NeckTite treatments that we perform are built on the power of radiofrequency energy. Scientific research discovered years ago that radiofrequency energy could stimulate tissue tightening through collagen remodeling. As knowledge has progressed, so have treatment options. FaceTite and NeckTite don’t just utilize RF energy, they maximize it by inserting it beneath the skin. The process is called RFAL, radiofrequency-assisted lipolysis. The procedure is performed using a local anesthetic to numb the lower face and neck if both areas are being treated. After administering the anesthetic, the doctor makes tiny incisions in hidden areas and inserts a very narrow cannula beneath the skin. The FaceTite applicator tip is two-pronged. One “arm” slides under the skin and another hovers over the skin’s surface. This “sandwiches” radiofrequency energy in between the two for more profound tissue remodeling.
After FaceTite
One of the benefits of FaceTite is that, as a nonsurgical procedure, it does not require general anesthesia and, as such, immediately carries fewer risks. There is still some downtime, though. Patients may want to have someone drive them home from their appointment and will very likely have a compression garment on when they leave the office. Post-treatment side effects like swelling, bruising, numbness, and itching are common, but generally improve significantly in the week following the procedure. Patients should avoid strenuous activity and excessive heat for about 48 hours and are usually ready to return to work in three to five days. However, the skin’s texture may feel irregular for two to three weeks as tissue remodeling is ongoing.
