What Is Emsculpt?
EMSCULPT contours the abdomen, to provide an improvement in both the muscle and fat in this area. This non-surgical technology is able to tone and shape the abdomen, where other non-surgical treatments only reduce fat in the area.
EMSCULPT is also the first non-surgical treatment to improve the appearance of the buttocks! EMSCULPT non-surgically lifts and tones the buttocks to give a firm, round appearance. Not only does EMSCULPT provide a visually pleasing result, but it also increases the strength and stamina of the gluteal muscles for increased athletic performance.
What Areas Can Emsculpt Treat?
The EMSCULPT device has large and small applicators that can fit specific areas, including the abdomen, buttocks, thighs, calves, and arms.
Am I a Candidate for Non-surgical Body Contouring?
This treatment is ideal for patients who do not want to undergo surgery or receive injectable treatment in these areas. EMSCULPT is great for male and female patients alike.
How Does Emsculpt Work?
EMSCULPT is powered by cutting-edge technology that targets deep muscle tissue. The EM in EMSCULPT represents electromagnetic energy. This technology forces muscle contraction in the area that needs toning. The electromagnetic waves that come from the device applicators stimulate a process that resembles how our muscles would contract during intense exercise, except to a much stronger extent than what is possible even during the most strenuous workout. The contractions that occur during an EMSCULPT session are called supramaximal contractions.
Supramaximal contractions cannot be achieved voluntarily, i.e. through normal exercise. The contractions accomplished during EMSCULPT sessions equate to about 20,000 voluntary muscle movements.
The strength of the supramaximal movements forces muscle tissue to adapt, which it does with deep muscle remodeling and fat-burning.

How Many Treatments Are Needed to See Results?
It is recommended that patients undergo four 30-minute treatment sessions spaced 2-3 days apart. Patients will receive treatments twice per week.
Are Emsculpt Results Permanent?
A short series of EMSCULPT treatments can achieve noticeable results including 15 to 20 percent fat reduction and muscle growth in the treatment area. The results of these treatments, because they are initially performed just a few days apart, can be felt very quickly. The positive visible results of deep muscle remodeling can take two to four weeks to become apparent. The muscle continues to firm up even after the last EMSCULPT treatment, allowing patients to continue seeing improvements for several weeks.
When you complete an EMSCULPT treatment plan, your body can look and feel as if you have spent the last six months eating perfectly and working out with a trainer. How long you continue to enjoy these results is largely up to you. People who live a healthy, active lifestyle that includes strength-building workouts (yoga counts!) may maintain their body tone for years. People who aren’t as active may return for additional treatments as needed to prevent muscles from losing their new and improved form. Maintenance visits are less frequent than the initial body contouring process. These may occur from once a month to once a year depending on individual goals.
How Does Emsculpt Compare to Regular Exercise?
Regular exercise and EMSCULPT treatment are not comparable. EMSCULPT induces 20,000 intense muscle contractions within 30 minutes which are not possible to achieve by exercising/voluntary muscle action. Four treatments of EMSCULPT could be compared to a couple of months of working out in the gym.
How Does Emsculpt Compare to Liposuction?
Liposuction and EMSCULPT treatment are also not comparable. Liposuction is an invasive procedure and it does not affect muscles at all. EMSCULPT is one and only unique non-invasive procedure in the world that has shown in studies to affect both muscle and fat.
Is Emsculpt Painful?
EMSCULPT is not a painful treatment. It is completely noninvasive. During sessions, patients report feeling an odd “pulling” sensation. This is the effect of muscular contractions deep beneath the surface. The provider controls the intensity of treatment, so patients can always request adjustments if contractions feel too intense. While there is very little discomfort felt during treatment, patients might feel a little sore afterward.
Not painfully so, but sore like they’ve worked out. Some patients go from their EMSCULPT appointment straight to the gym to continue their body-toning process.
Will Insurance Cover Emsculpt Treatment?
EMSCULPT treatments can provide significant improvements in body mechanics and posture and can also help reduce the risk of injuries during sports or exercise. However, the primary objective of performing this procedure is to sculpt the body. The EMSCULPT device is categorized as cosmetic, so insurance does not cover the cost of treatments.
