Lips and Lines in Austin, Texas!

Dysport is an FDA-approved cosmetic injectable used to treat specific wrinkle-causing muscles in the face. Similar to BOTOX® Cosmetic, with a slightly different formulation.

We inject small amounts of Dysport directly into the area your wrinkles are forming. As your treatment takes effect, you will experience an improvement in the appearance of these wrinkles.

Dysport is most effective at treating:

  • Crow’s feet (lines around the eyes)
  • Forehead wrinkles
  • Frown lines between the eyebrows
  • Smokers Lines

Your results should last approximately 12-16 weeks. In order to maintain longer lasting results, you’ll need to return to our Austin, Texas office for additional Dysport treatments.

Keep in mind that Dysport is only intended to improve the appearance of wrinkles that are caused by facial muscle contractions. If you would like to improve the appearance of wrinkles caused by aging or collagen depletion, we may recommend a dermal filler to achieve your desired results.

Benefits of Dysport®

Dysport offers you the following benefits compared with BOTOX® Cosmetic:

  • Wider area of effect, which allows for wider spaces between the injection sites
  • Works faster than BOTOX® Cosmetic
  • Can last longer than BOTOX® Cosmetic
  • Is more cost effective

Who is an Ideal Candidate for Dysport?

Dysport is an excellent treatment option for adults who are tired of looking tired or angry due to dynamic wrinkles. That said, our team will review some specifics with you in order to ensure two things. One, that you can safely receive Dysport injections and, two, that you are likely to be satisfied with your treatment outcome. Dysport is used to reduce the effects of muscle movements, mostly across the upper region of the face. Examples include frown lines and worry lines on the forehead. During your consultation, we'll discuss the effects that Dysport can have on your target area or areas and how long your results could last. We'll do our best to ensure that realistic expectations are set through clear communication regarding this injectable. Additionally, we will discuss your previous experiences and your current health. Dysport is not approved for women who are pregnant or nursing, nor is it appropriate for people with an active skin infection in the treatment area. You also mustn't be allergic to the ingredients in Dysport. If you've had a reaction to Botox in the past, chances are higher that you'd have the same reaction to Dysport because the two drugs share the same active ingredient.

If you are in good general health and want to reduce the appearance of dynamic wrinkles without necessary downtime, come talk to us about Dysport!

How Does Dysport Work?

Dysport is a neuromodulator. It works by inhibiting the release of acetylcholine, a neurotransmitter that stimulates muscle contractions. Injected at the superficial muscular level, Dysport blocks this neurotransmitter, thereby preventing full muscle contraction for a period of time.

How Long Does Dysport Treatment Take?

You can be in and out of the office in less than an hour when you visit us for injectable treatments. This may be the case even if you choose to combine your Dysport injections with other treatments, such as dermal fillers! The streamlined process is simple. If you're new to our Austin practice, we'll get to know you through a brief consultation in which you'll tell us your beauty concerns. We'll discuss which procedures may be ideal for you and, if Dysport is on that list and seems ideal for you, we can perform your injections right then and there. Of course, this is all up to you. You may also choose to take some time to reflect on your treatment options and schedule a subsequent visit to receive your injections.

When Will I See Results from Dysport?

Injectables all work in their own unique ways. Because dermal fillers achieve immediate results, some people expect the same from Botox and Dysport. But neuromodulators don't work in the same way as dermal fillers and other injectables. These products work by inhibiting muscle contraction. The mechanics of this process begins right away. However, it can take several days for the treated muscles to reach the intended level of relaxation. With that, you can expect to see your wrinkles smoothing away four to seven days after your appointment.

How Long Do the Results Last?

Your body will naturally degrade and flush the active ingredient in Dysport at its own rate. Usually, we see the rewarding effects of this injectable fade after three to four months. You can safely repeat treatment as often as every three months.

What's the Difference Between Dysport and Botox?

Dysport and Botox are made with the same active ingredient, so why do we have both? It comes down to dilution and diffusion. Dysport is a more diluted product, which means we may inject more product in a single area. Fortunately, this does not mean that Dysport is more expensive than Botox, the pricing is comparable across the board with these two options. Dysport also diffuses more readily than Botox, which can affect the manner in which your provider performs injections of this drug. The treatment areas are similar, including frown lines, forehead lines, and eyebrows. However, the injection technique may differ.

Because Dysport differs from Botox, it is often used as an alternative for people who have built up a tolerance to their initial wrinkle-reducing treatment.
