First in Austin for Kybella™
Kybella™ is a revolutionary nonsurgical way to address the cosmetic condition known as double chin. With this injectable medication, Austin physician Dr. Jennifer Walden can eliminate moderate to severe levels of bulging skin and stubborn fat deposits below the chin, helping produce a better contoured, more lifted, and noticeably more attractive appearance.
Kybella is the first FDA approved injectable drug to improve the appearance of the jaw line by dissolving excess fat underneath the jawline, often referred to as a “double chin”.
When Will I See Results?
The fat is dissolved within 10-15 minutes of injection, however an inflammatory response is induced that causes swelling and takes a 3-4 weeks to subside. Therefore, you will not see your final result for approximately 4 weeks following your injection.
Are Kybella™ Results Permanent?
The short answer is yes. However, if you gain weight, some of the submental fat can return. During your consultation we will assess your neck and chin, discuss treatment options and results, and answer any questions you may have.
As an injectable treatment, similar to Botox and fillers, it requires a relatively short office visit that should take less than 30 minutes.

There can be some bruising associated with Kybella treatments, similar to other injectables, that can last up to a week. You are free to apply concealer to cover bruises the very next day. The swelling lasts typically 3-4 days, and full result is visible in about 28 days. In addition, Dr. Walden advises patients to wait a few days before taking part in any strenuous activities as this can worsen their bruising and swelling.
Because the active ingredient in Kybella occurs naturally in the human body, severe reactions to this nonsurgical facial rejuvenation treatment are uncommon. However, there are some risks such as swelling, bruising, and hardness that may accompany any injectable medication.
If you suffer from excess fat & want to find a solution to get rid of your double chin then call today to set up an appointment. During your consultation, we will assess your neck and chin, discuss treatment recommendations and options, and answer any questions you may have.
Surgical options such as liposuction, facelift and/or neck lift are still excellent options and in many patients give a superior result. If a patient has excess skin under the chin, surgical excision is often needed. As a plastic surgeon, Dr. Walden can go over the different treatment options you are a candidate for, both surgical and non-surgical, as well as answer any questions you may have.
