It is quite normal to be a bit uncomfortable talking to your doctor about sexual dysfunction. Who is a candidate for the p-shot?

Men with erectile dysfunction (ED) can be helped immensely by the Priapus Shot®. It’s estimated that 15-30 million American men have ED. Beyond having ED, most men have problems with their erections from time to time, particularly as they enter middle age. This can cause issues with relationships and self-esteem.

Also, the P-Shot can help men with various physical problems, such as an enlarged prostate or diabetes. It can also counteract certain drug reactions and the adverse effects following prostate cancer treatment.

At Dr. Walden’s, we offer the P-Shot and the O-Shot (for women) to improve the relationships of our patients and their partners. This is part of our commitment to the sexual wellbeing of our patients.

What is the P-Shot?

The Priapus Shot® uses a patient’s own blood platelets and stem cells to improve penile function. Utilizing the healing and regeneration power of platelets, the P-Shot stimulates new tissue growth and increases blood flow. The P-Shot procedure is a fast, painless injection intended for men who have lost function due to an enlarged prostate, prostate cancer, drug side effects, conditions such as diabetes, or the after-effects from surgery.

Named for Priapus, the Greek god of virility, the P-Shot can be an effective treatment for erectile dysfunction.

How does the P-Shot Work?

man beachThe P-Shot is based around the healing power of human blood platelets, which are responsible for wound healing and tissue regeneration after injury. For the P-Shot, we take those platelets and concentrate them to form a powerful, enhancing injection.

We start by taking a small sample of your blood. The blood is placed in a centrifuge that separates out the platelets, stem cells, plasma, and white blood cells, but removes the red blood cells. What is left is super-concentrated platelet-rich plasma (PRP) that has extensive healing and regeneration capabilities.

We apply local anesthetic to your penis, and then inject the PRP into the various parts of your penis that are critical to sexual arousal and erectile function. The entire process takes around 30 minutes.

After you receive the P-Shot, you then use a provided vacuum pump device to stretch the tissues of your penis. This pumping action stimulates the PRP and other ingredients in the P-Shot to initiate the regenerative process, and it can help increase girth and length.

Is there any preparation prior to a P-Shot treatment?

There isn’t anything you need to do prior to these injections.

Is getting a P-Shot painful?

There is no pain involved. Prior to the procedure, the injection area is fully numbed with topical Lidocaine. We use a very fine, short needle for these injections, as well. This isn’t a painful treatment.

Is there recovery after having a P-Shot?

manThere isn’t any recovery time. We use topical Lidocaine prior to your injections, so you don’t feel anything. After your session, you can go right back to work or your normal activities.

What are the side effect of the p shot?

Platelet-rich plasma is made from your own blood, so when it is reinjected in the P-Shot, there aren’t any side effects or reactions. This is a simple procedure done right in our Austin offices.

Will I need future P-Shots or are these permanent treatments?

The P-Shot improves symptoms of erectile dysfunction in men for one year. These results can vary between patients, but generally patients experience stronger, longer, and firmer erections.

What kind of results should I expect from the P-Shot and when will I see them?

These PRP injections provide immediate results. These results are variable between patients, but patients can expect improvement in erection quality and duration. As the growth factors and stem cells work, many patients can also expect a noticeable increase in size, but this takes a few weeks for the tissue regeneration to build.
