In a world of increasing social pressures in adolescence, teens are going under the knife to fit in. Dr. Walden’s commentary was recently featured on this topic in Teen Vogue. The article, Scary but True: Girls Are Getting Plastic Surgery to Avoid Being Bullied for Their Looks, focuses on teens Nadia and Sasha, who have decided to go under the knife to avoid further ridicule for their looks.
Dr. Walden is very familiar with this topic. Dr. Walden has noticed an increase in “teens who are seeking plastic surgery to deal with something they’re being teased about.” While surgery can be a fix for teens, Dr. Walden urges it is not ultimate fix. It won’t get you the boyfriend you want or make you head cheerleader. It won’t fix any of those things.”
