To raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, Dr. Walden will be co-hosting “Cosmopolitans and Collagen” with Rochelle Rae, owner of Rae cosmetics. The evening will include medical spa and makeup demos, raffle prizes, giveaways and cocktails by Deep Eddy Distilling Company. The raffle will include of $20,000 worth of prizes that range from cosmetic procedures, products, and gift certificates. This includes a $1000 certificate towards any procedure at Dr. Walden’s office. Each raffle ticket is $25.
Recently Dr. Jennifer Walden was nominated by the South Central Texas Chapter of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) for the annual “Man & Women of the Year” title. Each year candidates raise funds over 10 weeks for blood cancer research and represent children who are local blood cancer survivors, the Boy & Girl of the Year. Every dollar raised goes toward funding current research to advance breakthrough therapies. Under Dr. Walden’s campaign, each dollar raised counts as one vote for her towards the title of Women of the Year.
This year Boy of the Year is Archer, a 16 month old boy who currently is receiving chemotherapy at Dell Medical Center for blood cancer, and the Girl of the Year is a 7 year old girl, Karen, now considered cured from blood cancer! Dr. Walden will be representing them as she raises money for the LLS.
Blood cancer is a prevalent problem in today’s society. The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society states that, “every 3 minutes, someone in the US is diagnosed with a blood cancer. Despite progress, more than a third of blood cancer patients still do not survive five years after their diagnosis. Every 10 minutes someone in the US dies of a blood cancer.” Dr. Walden is motivated by the staggering toll blood cancer takes on today’s society to raise money for the LLS in hopes to shrink the severity of these statistics. One day at a time.
