What is ThermiSmooth™?
ThermiSmooth™ is performed using a specially designed thermistor-regulated handpiece. This handpiece delivers precise heating to the skin’s surface, which patients usually equate to the feeling of a warm massage. This energy smoothes and tightens the skin.
How does ThermiSmooth™ work?
The procedure uses radiofrequency energy to do the work. The RF energy heats the skin, causing the collagen in the area to shrink. This causes the surface skin above to tighten and smooth. The body responds to the RF heating as if it has been wounded. This response is to produce new collagen and send it to the targeted area. This new collagen fills in wrinkles and the dimples caused by cellulite.
What is the procedure like?
Getting a ThermiSmooth™ procedure at Dr. Walden’s is simple. We begin by applying a clear gel to the area to be treated. Next, we set the RF energy to the desired temperature. On the face, we use a small wand to deliver the RF energy. On larger areas of the body, the handpiece is larger. As the wand is moved across the target area, it is rotated in circular motions. This evenly applies the RF energy and smoothes out the gel to keep the surface skin comfortable. Throughout the procedure, the Thermi system continually monitors the skin temperature to keep you comfortable.
Where do you use the ThermiSmooth™ system?
ThermiSmooth has two different handpieces, one for the face and one for the body. ThermiSmooth™ Face is great on the forehead, eyes, cheeks, mouth, and neck. ThermiSmooth™ Body treats the chest, breasts, arms, stomach, flanks, back, hips, buttocks, thighs knees, calves, and ankles.
How many treatments will I need?
Most patients find that a series of treatments are necessary to achieve their goals. On the face, this will be from 3-6 applications. On the body, it will be 4-6 treatments. These will be delivered over a 6-8-week period.
