Tired of those age spots making your face look older than it should? Let’s do something about it this weekend with the MicroLaserPeel™. Known as the “weekend peel,” the MicroLaserPeel uses an erbium laser to precisely remove the outermost layers of the skin, and along with it fine lines and wrinkles, sun spots, actinic keratoses, and acne scars.
The MicroLaserPeel™ at Dr. Walden’s will make your skin look great in just a weekend.
What is the MicroLaserPeel?
For the MicroLaserPeel™, we use the Sciton Erbium Laser. It allows great precision when deciding the depth of the treatment. We consider the MicroLaserPeel™ to be between microdermabrasion and a moderate chemical peel.
What is the MicroLaserPeel™ effective on?
Because we can set the erbium laser to different depths, we have flexibility in how we can address each patient’s unique needs. We use the MicroLaserPeel™ to treat these conditions:
- Sun damage
- Age spots
- Pigmentation problems
- Acne scars
- Actinic keratoses
How is a MicroLaserPeel done?
First, we set the laser to the chosen depth to address your needs. Then the laser beam scans over the treatment area and precisely vaporizes a very thin layer of skin. This removes the damaged layer that makes your skin look dull. This is the layer where the most sun damage, pigmentation, age spots, and acne scars lie. Because of the high water content in the epidermis, the laser energy evaporates the outer skin layer. While this sounds sort of scary, it’s not because of the precision of the laser. This keeps it from penetrating too deeply.
The procedure is very fast, taking just 15-30 minutes and is virtually pain-free. We offer a numbing cream for optimal comfort.
How long does healing take?
The reason this is sometimes called a “weekend peel” is that you need a couple of days to let your skin heal. Immediately after your treatment, your skin will have a “frosty” appearance. This is the dehydrated skin that will peel away within the next few days. You’ll have some redness and will feel as if you have a light sunburn. You’ll use a protective lotion or ointment to protect your skin for a couple of days days and then will switch to a simple moisturizer. Your body will immediately start building new skin to replace the layer that has been removed, and this skin will look younger and more rejuvenated with far less sun damage and visible age spots. After three days you’ll be ready to go back to work or out in public, hence the “weekend peel” moniker.
